The carcinogenicity of creosote oil: the induction of lung tumors in mice.

چکیده
ment of skin tumors in untreated mice (18) and also increased the susceptibility of mice to the in duction of skin tumors (5). Therefore, creosote was tested and found both to increase the percentage of mice bearing lung tumors and the number of ade nomas borne by individual mice over the control level. In the first experiment creosote was applied to the skin of weanling mice repeatedly in quantities sufficient to cause both skin and lung tumors to appear. In the second experiment the quantity of creosote applied to the skin, though insufficient to cause skin tumors, was nevertheless effective in giving rise to lung tumors.

The carcinogenicity of creosote oil: its role in the induction of skin tumors in mice.
Although exposure to creosote1 was recognized 35 years ago as a carcinogenic hazard to man (5), it is only recently that its carcinogenic effect on mice has been noted and investigated. Cabot et al. (4) observed that tumors developed more rapidly in mice treated with a basic fraction of creosote oil and benzpyrene concurrently than in mice treated with benzpyrene alone. Woodhouse (13) found cre...

Purpose: Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) is a potent inducer of cytotoxic T-cell activity, cytokine production and necrosis induction in vivo. Monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL) is an adjuvant derived from the lipopolysaccharide of E.coli, Salmonella Minnesota Re595 and other gram negative bacteria.Materials and Methods: In this research, The antitumor and antimetastatic effect of intra-venus inje...
متن کاملCarcinogenicity studies of Estonian oil shale soots.
Several series of chronic experiments in white mice and white rats were carried out in order to determine the carcinogenicity of Estonian oil shale soot as well as the soot from oil shale fuel oil. All the investigated samples of soot showed a relatively low (from 14 to 1200 ppm) benzo(a)pyrene content. The benzene extract of oil shale soot, painted on the skin of white mice, proved to be stron...

Severalcis-platinum coordination complexesweretested for their carcinogenic and mutagenic potencies in view of the known electrophilic reactivities of antitumor platinum complexes toward cellular nucleophiles and the mutagen icities of some of these complexes. cis-Dichlorodiammineplatinum(Il) (total dose, 32.5 mg/kg) administered i.p. over 10 to 19 weeks increased the lung adenoma multiplicity ...
متن کاملEFFECT OF IRON OVERLOAD ON 7, 12-DIMETHYLBENZ (A) ANTHRACENE-INDUCED SKIN TUMORIGENESIS
Iron overload is known to occur in the West European and American population due to the consumption of iron-rich diets. On the other hand, genetic disorders leading to iron overload are also known. Iron overload leads to increased peroxidation and disruptive disintegration of lipid-rich membranes, and predisposes humans for an enhanced risk of cancer induction. In experimental animals iron ...
